Wilbur Scott Meier Obituary
Milledgeville - Wilbur Scott Meier, 78, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026. Scott was born in Milledgeville, Georgia on Oct. 21, 1947, to the late Homer Neal Meier Sr. and Marjorie Scott Meier. He was a graduate of Baldwin High School Class of 1965 and also graduated from Georgia College.
He worked for many years with his family's business, M&M Clays, as a corporate officer and mining supervisor.
Scott loved his family and friends, stray dogs and cats, woodworking and knifemaking, music, photography, cold beer and single malt whiskey. He enjoyed spending time in nature and at home in Wilkinson County with his partner of 45 years, Mary Hunnicutt. He was a talented, gentle, funny, easygoing man, and he will be greatly missed.
Survivors include Mary; a daughter, Jessie Hunnicutt (Michael Nirenberg); two grandchildren, Vivian Nirenberg and Oliver Nirenberg; two brothers, Neal Meier Jr. and Gary Meier Sr.; his nieces and nephews, Gary Meier Jr. (Teresa), Rose Booker (Scott), Neal Meier III (Kristin), Jori Acosta (Jacob), and Crystal Johnson; and his great-nieces and nephews, Ava, Zula, Clara and Lavinia Booker, Joe, Grady and Iris Meier, Clark Acosta and Carly Johnson. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Robert Meier.
Family visitation was held at Moores Funeral Home & Crematory on Saturday, June 20 from 3 until 4:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue Foundation.
