Walter Lindsey Osborne Obituary

Mr. Walter Lindsey "Jack" Osborne, 82, passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024. Services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at the Darien Baptist Church with the Rev. David Ray and the Rev. Maxie Threatt officiating. Burial followed in Linton Cemetery.

Mr. Jack was born in Milledgeville, Georgia on March 28, 1942, to the late Lindsey and Mary Osborne. He was a life-long resident of Linton. He worked with J.P. Stevens for many years and served as the assistant police chief for the City of Sparta. He also worked with Central State Hospital Dairy Farm, B&H Transfer and Howard Sheppard. Mr. Jack enjoyed making cane syrup and loved going fishing. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Allowee Adams (Jack) and Betty Beverly (Luther); and two brothers, William Ernest (W.E.) and Johnny Osborne. He was a member of Darien Baptist Church.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Gayle H. Osborne of Linton; two sons, Walter A. Osborne (Mary) of Eatonton and Greg Osborne (Marcia); a daughter, Bonnie Eubanks (Mitch) of Deepstep; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Jean Osborne and Finnie Mae Osborne, both of Linton; six grandchildren, Brittany Batchelor, Blake Eubanks, Traci Osborne, Cole Osborne, Ty Osborne and Raylan Osborne; five great grandchildren, Jayden Eubanks, Bailey Batchelor, Jesse Batchelor Jr., Easton Hunley and Kaiden Hunley, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Darien Baptist Church or the Linton Cemetery Fund.
