Alpharetta, Georgia - Timothy Hagan Thompson, 54, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 26, 2026.

Born on Dec. 26, 1971, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Hagan was the beloved son of Jan Thompson and Lawrence Nathaniel Thompson III (Patricia). He spent his childhood and formative years in Milledgeville, Ga., where he developed a lifelong love for family, learning, service, and his community. In recent years, he made his home in Alpharetta, Ga.

Anyone who knew Hagan knew he never met a stranger. Whether speaking with a lifelong friend or someone he had just met, he possessed a remarkable ability to make others feel welcome, valued and understood. His warm smile, genuine curiosity, quick wit and compassionate heart allowed him to build lasting friendships wherever life took him.

Hagan graduated from John Milledge Academy in 1990 before earning a bachelor of science degree from Presbyterian College, where he graduated as valedictorian with majors in business administration and political science. In 1994, he was named to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, a traditional campus honor recognizing outstanding scholarship, leadership, character and service. During his college years, he served as chapter president of the Kappa Alpha Order at GCSU and was active in numerous student organizations.

In 1996, Hagan had the memorable opportunity to work at the Olympic Games in Atlanta. He later earned his master of business administration from Emory University's Goizueta Business School in 2002 and was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, the international business honor society. While at Emory, Hagan participated in an international business studies program that allowed him to visit several countries, broadening his perspective and deepening his appreciation for people and cultures around the world.

Although Hagan excelled academically, he measured success not by accomplishments but by the opportunity to serve others. He generously gave of his time through the Shepherd Center, Milledgeville Cares, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Leadership Baldwin and the Montreat Conference Center, where he faithfully served for several years as both a counselor and volunteer. He believed that investing in people was life's greatest calling and quietly touched countless lives through encouragement, mentorship and friendship.

Above all else, Hagan loved Jesus Christ. A faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Milledgeville, his faith was the foundation upon which he built his life. His commitment to faith and service was evident from a young age, when he was elected moderator of the Presbyterian Youth General Assembly. Throughout his life, he sought to reflect Christ's love in the way he treated others — with humility, grace, kindness and compassion.

Nothing brought Hagan greater joy than being a father. His children were the greatest blessing of his life, and he treasured every moment with them.

He is survived by his former partner, Anna Botco, and their children, Timothy Hagan Thompson Jr. and Charlie Mae Thompson; his mother, Jan Thompson; his father, Lawrence Nathaniel Thompson III (Patricia); his grandmother, Beegee Baugh; his aunt, Ellen Thompson; his brother, Nathan Thompson (Emily), and their son, Leo; his sisters, Lawren Thompson Hutchinson (Reid), and their sons, Evans, Jackson and William; Ellie Thompson Waddell (Joey), and their daughter, Bridgette; and Cassidy Smith (Jared). He also leaves behind many beloved cousins, extended family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lawrence Nathaniel Thompson Jr. and Betty Winn Thompson; his great-grandmother, Madge C. Winn; and his aunt, Winn Thompson.

Hagan was a proud lifetime member of Clan MacDonald and deeply valued his Scottish heritage. He was an enthusiastic Georgia Bulldogs fan and found great joy in cheering on the Dawgs with family and friends.

He will be remembered as a devoted father, loving son, caring brother, loyal friend, and a man whose life reflected the love of Christ. His family looks forward to the day they will see Hagan again — healed, whole, and forever in the presence of the Lord.

The family will receive friends at noon on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church with funeral services to follow at 1 p.m. Private burial will follow in Mt. Vernon, Ga.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Milledgeville or Georgia Military College.
