Sammy Baxley Obituary

Milledgeville - Mr. Samuel Eugene "Sammy" Baxley, 88, passed away on Dec. 29, 2025. A funeral service for Mr. Baxley will be held on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, at 3 p.m. in the Williams Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jerry Pickard officiating. Burial will follow in Baldwin Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home.

Mr. Baxley was a native of Newnan and had lived in Milledgeville since 1967. He was the son of the late James Guy Baxley and the late Fannie Newman Baxley and was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Jackson Baxley; and brother, Stanley Baxley. He was retired from Georgia Power and also a retired volunteer fireman. Mr. Baxley had worked with his son, Charles with Baxley Electric. He loved bowling, card playing, bingo and most of all working. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church where he enjoyed his regular church group.

He is survived by his sons, Gene Baxley (Ann); Charles Baxley (Jennifer); daughter, Cindy Baxley Heath; grandchildren, Bonnie Baxley Carr (Jon), Crystal Baxley Ivey (Ryan), Melanie Baxley McLaughlin (Alex), C.J. Baxley (Joni); Mary Heath; and 12 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jeanna Baugh Montgomery Cancer Support Fund; c/o Northridge Christian Church, 321 Log Cabin Road NE; Milledgeville, GA 31061.
