Milledgeville, Georgia - Myra Ivey Towns, 94, passed away Friday, Aug. 2, 2024. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10 at Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Brandon Witt and Dr. Jerry Pickard officiating. Burial will follow at Scenic Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Towns was born in Milledgeville, Georgia Nov. 19, 1929. She was one of 13 children born to the late Osmer E. Ivey and Carrie Greene Ivey. She was a life-long resident of Milledgeville and a graduate of Peabody High School. She worked at J.P. Stevens and Concord Fabrics. She was preceded in death by her husband, Payton Lamar Towns Sr., a son, Payton Lamar "Larry" Towns Jr. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Mark Towns of Milledgeville; a sister, Gloria Tanner of Milledgeville; three grandchildren, Payton Towns, III (Jill) of Dublin, Galen Towns (Val) of Beaverdam, Virginia, and Rebecca Towns (Charles Quinn) of Milledgeville; and five great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 until 11 a.m. at Northside Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to Northside Baptist Church.
