Milledgeville, Georgia - Michaelina Votino "Mickie" Simmons, 94, passed away Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024. Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Bryan Kuhr officiating. Burial will follow at Scenic Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Simmons was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania on Jan. 5, 1930, to the late Albert and Helen Votino. She moved to Milledgeville in 1960 and worked for J.P. Stevens & Co. She then opened Mickie's Pizza Villa, which she owned and operated for over 22 years. She then opened Import Bazaar, which is now Video Bazaar of Milledgeville. She truly Loved visiting and interacting with her customers. She loved to dance, was an avid bowler and she loved living on Pebble Hill where she always had a beautiful flower garden. Mickie loved her grandchildren and her many trips to Cherokee N.C., Biloxi and Ohio. Her work ethic was second to none. She was a member of Scared Heart Catholic Church of Milledgeville.

Survivors include her family: Karren S. McGhee (John), Dianne S. Bell (Gerry) both of Milledgeville, Mona Simmons of South Carolina, Jimmy Branan (Cammie) of Milledgeville, Kristi McGhee, Cliff McGhee (Lisa), Matt McGhee (Angela), Kate McGhee (Wesley Hines), Gerald Bell (Jessica), Brandy Ayers (Burton), Manley Smith, Christina Smith Coleman, Mary Branan, Allie Branan, seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. A special thank you to Mickie's current caregivers Carolyn Moment, Amanda Canty, Kayla Justice, Chelsea Harper, Lori Simmons and Karen Smith.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Moores Funeral Home.
