Mary Borstell
Mrs. Mary Orin Patrick Wolfe Borstell, 86, of Milledgeville passed away Thursday, Feb. 6 at AnMed Health Hospital in Anderson, S.C. She was predeceased by her mother, Dovie Thomas and her daughter Ann Burrell, and a widow to husbands Jim Wolfe and Hans Borstell, respectively.
She was lovingly known as "Nanny" to her 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was a dedicated Pilot club member and a Meals on Wheels delivery volunteer. She loved to quilt, garden, do crosswords and read her Bible daily. Borstell was loved by many former coworkers, colleagues and friends who also knew her as "Nanny" or "Patsy." She was a dedicated Christian and friend to everyone she met, and made the best biscuits in Georgia. Her macaroni and cheese was beyond rivalry and was known to spark mad rushes to the kitchen. She will be missed beyond words and lives in our hearts forever.
She is survived by her daughters Elaine Sweat (Jim), of Pelzer S.C.; Beth Hill (Bob), of Kingsland Ga.; Teresa Estaque (Barry), of Seneca S.C.; her son, Jimmy Wolfe (Carolyn), of Sparta Ga.; her step-children, Peter Borstell (Joan) of New Orleans, La. and Kathy Guepet of Milledgeville; and her grandchildren, Jenifer Sweat (her first favorite), Kyle Sweat, Jamie Wolfe, Amanda Griffin (her real favorite), Kerry Hill, Dana King, Amy Timms, Elizabeth Frieling, Ashley Estaque (her last favorite) and Billy Borstell.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wreaths Across America.
To quote Nanny, we love her "a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck."
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Williams Funeral Home chapel in Milledgeville. Burial will be in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m.
