Marvin Arthur Medders, 80, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, at his home in Milledgeville. Born in Savannah, Georgia on July 14, 1944, to the late Dewey E. and Lucy Elisabeth Medders.
Marvin grew up in Pembroke, Georgia before making his home in Milledgeville in 1973. He was a 1962 graduate of Bryan County High School. After high school he attend Abraham Baldwin College before transferring to Georgia Southern in Statesboro where he earned his degree in business administration. Marvin owned and operated M&M Furniture Refinishing for 45 years in Milledgeville. He was known throughout Georgia for his skill and talent with furniture restoration. He was a master scuba diver. He and his wife Joyce enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren, relatives and friends. Marvin was a dedicated member of the Masons Benevolent Lodge 3 and Al Sihah Temple in Macon. He served several terms as the president of the Tri County Shrine Club. He was a member of the First Baptist Church Milledgeville and served in the United States Marine Reserves.
The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home Friday, Feb. 28, 5:30 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 1, noon until the service at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jerry Bradley officiating. Interment will follow at Heritage Memorial Park.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joyce; his daughter, Joy Williamson (Jamey); his son, Jason Medders (Traci); his grandchildren, James Williamson, Anna Williamson, Lane Medders and Aubri Medders; his brother, Howell Medders (Donna), and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his cat, Kitty.
