Luman Carpenter Earle Obituary

Dublin, Georgia - Mr. Luman "Lou" Carpenter Earle, 82, of Dublin, Georgia, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2024.

Mr. Earle was born on Oct. 9, 1942 in Washington, D.C. He is best known for his work as a prominent bankruptcy attorney and supportive sponsor for people in recovery. Mr. Earle helped hundreds (if not thousands) of people find sobriety, make peace with their past, and go forward in fulfilling lives. As a bankruptcy attorney, Mr. Earle helped people find hope in despair by providing wise, cool-headed counsel. Having been through hardship himself, he had a knack for meeting people when they were at their worst and guiding them to a better future.

Mr. Earle was a graduate of Mercer University and earned his Juris Doctorate at Mercer University Law School where he was president of the Alpha Tau Omega (ATO) fraternity and a member of the debate team. He was a practicing attorney in several Georgia communities before settling in Dublin.

He is survived by his son, Lamar M. Graham (Kalynn Graham) of Ivey; nieces, Leslie Earle Freymann (Gordon Freymann) of Atlanta and Elizabeth "Lisa" Earle McLeod (Robert "Bob" McLeod) of Greensboro; nephew, Jim Earle of Eatonton; and his former wife, Pam Graham Earle of Saint Simons. He was preceded in death by his father, Julius Richard Earle Sr.; mother, Elizabeth Ruth Carpenter Earle; and his brother, Julius "Jay" Richard Earle Jr.

A supportive friend, upstanding community member, treasured son and brother, kind husband, and proud father, Mr. Earle spent the last three decades of his life helping those around him. Having found sobriety and professional success later in life, he often said, "I'm living proof you can always turn your life around."

The family will receive friends from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, at Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, in the Chan Stanley Memorial Chapel of Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory with the Rev. Dr. Ricky Porter presiding.
