Leila Butts Obituary

Homegoing services for Mrs. Leila Braswell Butts of Milledgeville will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, at 1 p.m. at The Chapel Of All Faiths, 252 Swint Ave., Milledgeville. Remains will lie in state at noon until the service hour. The interment will follow at Heritage Memorial Park.

It was on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019, that Leila was called home to eternal rest. Mrs. Butts was a devoted and faithful member of Union Baptist Church, joining in 1968. She was the Mother of the church, also served as a Deaconess, Missionary, Sunday School teacher, and a member of the choir.

Her memory will live on forever in the hearts of her family, four daughters, Tommie (William) Merritt of Milledgeville, Barbara Harris of Decatur, Ga., Jeanette Warner of East Point, Ga., and Sandra Braswell of Conyers, Ga.; one sister, Ruby Shaw of Athens, Ga.; step children, Julia Ingram, Addie Lewis, Lillian Walker; seven grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren, and a loving host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
