Jim Hobert
Jim Hobert "Hobbie" Purcell, 56, of Macon, passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019. Born in Savannah, he was the son of Jim Houston Purcell and Mary Frances Binnicker Purcell. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Eugene and Eva Purcell of Milledgeville, and his maternal grandparents, Charles Hobert and Agnes Binnicker of Savannah. Jim was an artist, a good swimmer, and a black belt in Taekwondo. According to his sons, he was "The Best Dad Ever." Jim was very proud of his Scottish heritage as part of Clan McDonald.
Jim is survived by his sons, Allen Justin "A.J." Purcell, and John-Thomas Ian Purcell, both of Milledgeville; the mother of his sons, Cindy Scoggins Purcell of Milledgeville; his mother, Mary B. Purcell of McIntyre; his father, Jim H. Purcell of Milledgeville; his sister, Jennifer Purcell Jones (Ted), and her children, Mary-Elizabeth Jones and Will Jones; his uncles, Larry Purcell, Joe Purcell, Chester "Chet" Purcell, and Walter Purcell; his aunts, Helen Hostetler and Jo-Ann Burchett; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
The family of Jim "Hobbie" Purcell will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 4, 2019, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
The family has asked that those who wish make memorial contributions to the Kidney & Pancreas Transplant Group at The Mayo Clinic, 4500 San Pablo Road South, Jacksonville, FL 32224 (www.mayoclinic.org)
