Marietta - Jeanette Parker Bass, 73, of Marietta, Ga. passed away on April 6, 2026 in Marietta. Graveside services will be Saturday, April 25, 2026, in Baldwin Memorial Gardens of Milledgeville at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Austin Gardner officiating.

She was born July 8, 1952, in Hancock County, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her gather, Grady Denton Parker, and her mother, Mamie McDaniel Parker, both of Milledgeville; and two brothers, Gary Parker and Grady Parker Jr. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, the Rev. O. Hayward Bass; a daughter, Christy Rakestraw, of Carrolton Ga.; a son, Michael and Stephanie Bass of Villa Rica, Ga.; a brother, Bobby Parker of Eatonton; and four sisters, Rhunette Jackson of Eatonton, Ga., Annette and Jimmy Veal, Linda Cheeves and Gloria and Wendell Pound of Milledgeville, Ga.; and four grandchildren, Erin and Will Rakestraw, and Melissa Bilbra and Matt Bass.

Jeanette worked for Baldwin County Hospital for 17 years as a ward secretary. She also worked with the city of Odum for several years and had several other occupations for some years. Her most fulfilling job was that of a pastor's wife for 41 years, helping serve churches and mother and grandmother to her family, which she loved with all her heart. She was a strong woman and an honor to her husband who loved her.

She had spent several years in a nursing home in Marietta with MS.
