Janet Govreau Wilkinson, 88, of Milledgeville, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024. Funeral services for Janet Wilkinson will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home with interment to follow in Heritage Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024 from 10 a.m. until the service hour.

Janet was born on April 23, 1936 in Dublin, Georgia to the late William Francis Govreau and the late Teresa Page Govreau. Janet married Carl W. Wilkinson Sr. in April of 1957, and they made their home in Milledgeville, Georgia. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Janet started her long career at the Baldwin County Courthouse working for Probate Judge Mack Simpson. She soon became a court reporter for the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit, being recognized as Court Reporter of the Year for the State of Georgia. Janet worked for the Honorable Judge Joseph Duke, the Honorable Chief Justice Hugh Thompson, the Honorable Judge Hulane George and the Honorable Judge Alan Thrower. She is especially known for taking many young attorneys and law enforcement officials under her wings to show them the workings of the court system.

Janet is pre-deceased by her husband, Carl W. Wilkinson Sr.; Janet is survived by her daughter, Teresa (Steve) Chambers of Milledgeville; her sons, James Randall "Randy" (Teresa) Wilkinson and Carl Wendell "Butch" (Debbie) Wilkinson, both of Milledgeville; seven grandchildren: Crystal, Eric, Casie, Carly, Matt, Kris and Kyle; and nine great grandchildren: Emma, Landen, Judson, Tucker, Bailey, Kole, Peyton, Stevie and Trip; and brother-in-law, Joe Culvern of Louisville; sister-in-law, Nellie Brown of Atlanta; several nieces and nephews; and longtime devoted friend, Mrs. Frances Simpson.
