With profound sadness, we announce the passing of James Harvey "Spydaman" Vann, Jr. Born Nov. 11, 1950, in Lexington Park, Md. to the late James Harvey Vann, Sr. and Francine McKinnon Vann Wimms, he had made his home in Milledgeville since the mid-1970s. He was a 1968 graduate of San Fernando Valley High School in San Fernando, Calif. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served as an electrician. He was retired from Central State Hospital, but had previously worked at Rheem Manufacturing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Harry Wimms; siblings, Dorothy Vann-Lewis, Barbara Vann Rocquemore and Robert Vann Sr.; daughters, Francine and Dennette Vann, and granddaughter, Nathalie Martial-Vann.
He is survived by his children, Dr. Maurice Vann Sr. (Amy), Lt. Col. Kennon Vann-Kelley (Jack), Elder James T. Jackson-Vann, PO3 Cameron Vann, Gaten Vann; bonus children, Deacon Michael Hightower (Valeria), Deacon Christopher Hightower (Conswaylo), and Ms. Tonia Toy; sisters, Ms. Loretta Vann Barnwell and Dr. Harriette Wimms and one great aunt, Mrs. Norma Vann Walker, grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
