Reynolds, Georgia - Funeral services for Jamason Franklin Byrd of Reynolds will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at
3 p.m. at Bethel Congregational Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 1:30 until the service hour. Burial will follow in Turner's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Jamason was born on July 29, 1972, and passed on from this earthly life on Sunday, May 18, 2025. Jamason was a member of Turner's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. He was a dedicated 24-year firefighter, currently serving as Taylor County Fire Chief, and was vice-president of New Horizons Management. During his 52 years here, Jamason's passions were being a first responder and firefighter to serve his community, flying his beautiful Beechcraft Bonanza, traveling as much as possible, and loving and serving his family and friends in so many ways. He was a dedicated father, son, brother, friend and partner to Laurie.
Survivors include Laurie Lavender Tharpe of Reynolds; two sons, Connor Tharpe of Reynolds and Ryan Tharpe of Reynolds; one daughter, Bridgette Byrd of Reynolds; his parents, James Frank Byrd and Sophenia Betsy Byrd of Milledgeville; one brother, Michael Douglas Byrd (Jenifer) of Milledgeville; one sister, Sophenia Rebecca Gay (Jonathan) of Milledgeville; nieces and nephews Landon Byrd, Victoria Byrd, Parker Gay, Kelsey Gay, and Holden Gay, all of Milledgeville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Country Gardens Activity Fund, 19 Hillcrest Circle, Butler, GA 31006.
