Doris L. Abney Obituary
Funeral Services for Mrs. Doris L. Abney of Cochran who died at her residence on Thursday, April 10, 2008, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Abney was born in Laurens County, daughter of the late John and Sara Nobles Lord. She was the widow of F. Holmes Abney. An active member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, she was a member of the Sunshine Club, Ladies One Sunday School Class, WMU and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was retired from Robins Air Force Base and was also a contributing writer for The Cochran Journal for more than 25 years.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Buddy Martin of Milledgeville; grandchildren; Suzanne Martin (Jeff) Ratliff and Michael Holmes (Tonya) Martin, both of Milledgeville; great-grandchildren, Blake, Braeden and Ava Kate Martin of Milledgeville; sisters-in-law, Eloise Lord of Macon, Joyce Lord of Cochran, Ivaline Lord of Dudley.
