Milledgeville - David Ashley Murray, 67, passed away Monday, June 16, 2025. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20 at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home with Curtis Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery.

David was born in Swainsboro, Georgia on Sept. 10, 1957, to the late John A. Murray and Thelma Wells Murray. He worked as a recreation therapist at Central State Hospital. David's passion was taking camping trips with his family. He was a member of Northridge Christian Church and for years he enjoyed cutting the grass at his church. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Benjamin Murray.

Survivors include his wife, Zel Carr Murray of Milledgeville; his daughter, Katie Murray and fiancée Sterling Steele of Milledgeville; two sons, David Ashley Murray Jr. (Taylor) of Milledgeville, and Corey Smith of Chicago, Illinois; a sister, Katherine Ann Caldwell of Winter Haven, Florida; one grandchild, Sophie Marie Murray, and his best friend, Curtis Cox.

The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. at Moores Funeral Home.
