Colin Chip Steed Stewart

Colin "Chip" Steed Stewart of Milledgeville, Georgia passed away December 19, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 23, 2024, at 11:00 am at Crawfordville Baptist Church in Crawfordville, Georgia with Dr. Todd Lowe officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 22, 2024, from 3:00-5:00 pm at McCommons Funeral Home in Greensboro, Georgia. Serving as pallbearers will be Mickey Osborne, Doug Hinton, Ken Vance, Brenton Hochstetler, Wayne Williams, and Bud Eavenson.
Chip was born on September 8, 1958, to Sybil and Colin Stewart. He grew up in Crawfordville as the youngest of four-two sisters and a brother. Chip attended Nathanael Greene Academy. After high school, Chip attended Reinhardt College for two years before transferring to the University of Georgia where he graduated with a degree in pharmacy. Chip met his wife, Lori at pharmacy school at UGA. They married after college and have made Milledgeville their home for the past 35 years. Chip worked as a pharmacist for almost 40 years. Chip always has had a love for animals and the outdoors. He's had cows in the past and more hunting dogs than anyone could keep up with. He enjoyed hunting, but his true passion was training and working with his dogs when he was not spending time with his children and grandchildren. Chip and Lori are members of Northridge Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Colin and Sybil Stewart.
Survivors include his wife of forty years, Lori Stewart of Milledgeville; son, Chris Stewart (Brooke) of Monroe; daughter, Catie Hochstetler (Brenton) of Smyrna; sister, Carol Bird of McCaysville; brother, Charles Stewart (Paula) of Crawfordville; sister, Coleen Gardner (Joe) of Alpharetta; four grandchildren, Carson and Parker Stewart, and Austin and Landon Hochstetler.
The family requests any memorials be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad St., Greensboro, GA, (706) 453-2626, is in charge of arrangements. Visit us at www.mccommonsfuneralhome.com to sign the online guest register.

Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Tree Planting Timeline
