Milledgeville, Georgia - Barbara Allen Grimes Purcell, 74, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 25 to celebrate Christmas with her Savior.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30 at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home with the Rev. Rickie Stubbs officiating. Burial will follow at Baldwin Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Purcell was born in Anniston, Alabama on Feb. 21, 1950, to the late Johnnie and Cleo Ford. She grew up in Tampa, Florida but spent most of her life in Milledgeville. She worked as a payroll accountant for many years before moving to public accounting, she worked for Pettigrew & Pettigrew and Marshall Lee Accounting. After her retirement, she enjoyed working during tax season every year. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bruce Grimes. Barbara was a member of Sinclair Baptist Church.

Barbara enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, knitting, cross stitching, gardening, making things grow and giving the most thoughtful gifts. She loved living with her husband in the swamp.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Purcell of Milledgeville; her daughter, Wendy Grimes Little (Eric) of Eatonton; her son, Erik Grimes (Amanda) of Morris, Alabama; a sister, Joyce Carmichael of St. Petersburg, Florida; five grandchildren, Ainsley Grimes, Mary Claire Grimes, Willow Grimes, August Little and Elin Little. Barbara is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and her special friends, The Cow Girls.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 until 4 p.m. at Moores Funeral Home.
