Milledgeville - Anne Whitaker Howell, 78, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 5, at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home. Burial will be at Memory Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Howell was born in Milledgeville, Georgia on Jan. 13, 1947, to the late Woodrow Wilson Whitaker and Marie Marchman Whitaker. She was a graduate of Baldwin High School and Crandell Business College. Anne worked in the Physical Therapy Department at Central State Hospital and the Baldwin County School System. She was a member of Hardwick Primitive Baptist Church. Anne was preceded in death by a sister Thurza Strag. Anne never met a stranger, and you always saw her and her husband John Roy, together everywhere they went.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years John Roy Howell of Milledgeville, her sister Marcha Thompson (John) of Fuquay-Varina, N.C., her sister-in-law Joan Wilson of Milledgeville, nieces Rebecca Thompson of Porter, Maine, and Tricia Meeks (Chris) of Holly Springs, N.C., a nephew Ben Strag of High Point, N.C., great nephews Dylan Meeks and Samuel Meeks of Holly Springs, N.C., and great nephews Harrison Strag and Nicholas Strag.

The family will receive friends Monday from 10 until 11 a.m. at Moores Funeral Home.
