John & Theresa's Story
Joint services for John and Theresa Lamon will be held Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at 4 p.m. in Milledgeville First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday at the First Methodist Church.
John Lamon passed away Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, he was a native of Savannah and grew up and graduated from high school in Stone Mountain. He received his bachelor's degree from Georgia State University, his master's from Georgia College and received his doctorate from Mercer University. He had made his home in Baldwin, Putnam and Washington counties for a number of years. John had been a teacher in Baldwin County, Putnam County and was teaching at Washington County High School. He and his wife Theresa had purchased and reopened the Deepstep Mercantile Store in Deepstep. His survivors include son, Chris (Kelly) Lamon; grandson, Lucas Lamon; mother, Frances A. Lamon of Selma, Ala.; brother, Frank Lamon Jr. (Debra) Hoschton; niece, Morgan Verdery; nephew, Ryan Lamon; and all of Theresa's family.
Theresa Bethke Lamon passed away Friday, Sept. 29, 2017. She was a native of Richland Center, Wisc., a graduate of Reuther High School and worked at Rockwell for a number of years before moving to Putnam county and working for Putnam County Sheriff's Office. She and her husband John had purchased and opened the Deepstep Mercantile Store. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Hess of Kenosha, Wisc.; sons, Chris Hess of Iowa and Keith (Kristi) Hess of Minot, N. Dakota; parents, Floyd and Shirley Lockard Bethke of Kenosha, Wisc.; grandchildren, Payton Holst, Emily Hess, Aiden Hess, Cooper Hess and Niles Hess; brothers, Eric (Dawn) Bethke and Corey Bethke of Pleasant Prairie, Wisc. and Gregory (Kathleen) Bethke of Sugarland, Texas, and all of John's family.
