Jane Villyard's Story
Jane Villyard Waldhauer, 84, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017, at home. A native of Milledgeville, Jane attended the Peabody schools, and graduated from Peabody High School. Artistically talented, she spent several summers at Frank Stanley Herring's art camp near Burnsville, NC studying water color techniques. She also learned china painting from Miss Callie Cook.
Jane worked at the Central State Hospital as an activity therapist, retiring with more than 30 years experience. She was one of three senior citizens featured in The Baldwin Bulletin's "Ask An old-Timer" column, which ran for many years. Known for her quick wit, she loved to make people laugh!
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Iva Etheridge Villyard, and a sister, Audra Dean Hedgepath. She is survived by a son, Ken Waldhauer (Wendy) of Savannah, a daughter, Villane Waldhauer of Milledgeville, five grandchildren and a niece.
A memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Milledgeville, with the Rev. Larry Glover and Pastor Beverly McLaren officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be in Memory Hill Cemetery.
