Carole Ann's Story

Carole Ann Sirmans, passed away on June 19, 2017 at her home on Lake Sinclair in Milledgeville, Georgia. She was born on May 8, 1932 to Rene' and Beulah Smith. Burial will be private at Baldwin Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, June 21, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends after the service.
Carole graduated from the University of Georgia where she received a degree in art. She worked at Old City Elementary, taught Special Ed at Peabody, and taught art in the Baldwin County schools. She opened Cove Pottery on Browns Crossing Road. She and Mr. Carol founded Browns Crossing Arts and Crafts Fair in 1970. The fair was a popular event in Baldwin County for over 25 years. Mrs. Carole and Mr. Carol were big supporters of many craft fairs throughout Georgia.
Carole married Carol Sirmans in 1953. They made their home on Brown Crossing Road for many years before moving to their lake home. Carole was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Throughout her life, Carole loved playing the piano and organ at church. She had a love for crafting and using her hands. She sewed, quilted, made lace, and made beautiful pottery. She loved spending time with her family. Many summers she would have "Camp Carole" at her lake home for her grandchildren.
Carole is survived by her sons Carol (Marty) Sirmans, Mike Sirmans (Kim), and Glynn (Sandy) Sirmans of Milledgeville, Georgia; her grandchildren Tiffany (Bryan) Ulrich, Phillip Sirmans, Megan (Kris) Zimmermann, Amber Sirmans, and John Michael Sirmans; and her great grandchildren Avery and Cambree Wilder Sirmans, Canyon, Kastyn, and Laken Ulrich, and Kolin and Landon Zimmermann; her sister Marsha (Gary) Cabbage and her sister in law, Shirley Smith; a number of nieces and nephews; special caregivers: Amanda Canty, Myra Meeks, Jenell Roberts, and Candice Washington.
Carole was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Carol; and her brother, Donald Smith.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial be made to Needles for Jesus c/o Milledgeville First United Methodist Church, 366 Log Cabin Rd. Milledgeville, GA or to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 701 Browns Crossing Road, Milledgeville, Georgia 31061.
