Ruth Beach's Story
Born on June 14, 1919 in Lenoir, North Carolina, Ruth was the daughter of the late Grayson Boone Beach and Sally Davis Beach. She died on July 4, 2017 in Stuart, FL. In 1945 she married George R. Hart, also of Lenoir. They celebrated seventy years of marriage before she was widowed in 2015. She worked for many years as a music therapist at Central State Hospital.
She was a member of long standing at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Milledgeville. Ruth helped begin the St. Stephens's ministry at the Georgia War Veterans' Home, playing piano for many years at the weekly service. She also volunteered at the women's prison, and she continued to play the organ at Sunday services at the Chapel of All Faiths at Central State Hospital after her retirement. Before her employment at Central State, Ruth served as the choir director and pianist at First Baptist Church of Tennille, and beginning in her youth she played organ or piano at many church services and at Sunday School and Bible School.
She survived by her daughters Carol H. McLaughlin of Stuart, Florida and Jane Hart of Milledgeville and a number of nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church on July 26 at 10 A.M, the Very Reverend David C. Probst officiating.
