Myra Francis Peavy, 85, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph Story officiating. Burial will follow at West View Cemetery.
Mrs. Peavy was a native of Johnson County but had made her home in Milledgeville. She began her career in nursing at the age of 15 working as an aid at Claxton Hospital. She went on to get her nursing degree and never left the nursing field. She worked at Central State Hospital for many years and she also worked as a nurse in several hospitals in surrounding counties as well as the Georgia War Veterans Home and Green Acres Nursing Home. She worked until the age of 72 and would have continued working had her health permitted. She deeply cared for those she attended and was very dedicated to her chosen field.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Bryant Peavy; a son, James Allen Peavy; three brothers, two sisters and her beloved granddaughter, Miranda Peavy Deal. She was a Baptist and attended Grace Baptist Church and was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her son, Dennis Peavy (Ginger) of Milledgeville; her daughter, Kimberly Stephens of Milledgeville; her God daughter Debra Hinkle (Roger Dale) of Ivey; two sisters-in-law, Eloise Warren of Adrian and Mavis Tanton of Dublin; a grandson, William Stephens of Milledgeville; a great granddaughter, Chloe Deal of Milledgeville and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 until 2 p.m. at Moores Funeral Home.

Grandma I will always love you and you will be missed so much. I know you are not my real Grandma but you loved me like one would. I remember the days we lived with and I would get up and cook you breakfast in the mornings. So Grandma I love you so much.
