Maxine Hitchcock Mrs. Maxine Purvis Hitchcock, 80, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at 2 p.m. in New Life Ministries Church of God with the Rev. John Milam officiating. Interment will follow in Baldwin Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1 p.m. until the service hour.
Mrs. Hitchcock is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Russell Hitchcock; a son, James "Jimmy" David Hitchcock; and parents, Aline Douglas Purvis and Micajah Purvis Jr. Mrs. Hitchcock was a native of Coffee County and came to Milledgeville to work as a telephone operator in the early sixties and later went to work for Baldwin County Hospital (Navicent Health Baldwin). She was the oldest member of New Life Ministries Church of God and taught Sunday School.
Mrs. Hitchcock is survived by daughters, Patricia Hitchcock of Cleveland, Tenn., Pamela Hitchcock of Milledgeville; son, Russell "Greg" Hitchcock of Milledgeville; sister-in-law, Coline Purvis of Nicholls; grandson, Michael Paul Micajah McCoy of Milledgeville; and nieces and nephews.
