Margaret's Story

Margaret Hope Garrett, 92, of Yonges Island, wife of George Council Garrett, passed away on Feb. 4, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018 at Christ St. Pauls at 2 p.m., 4981 Chapel Road, Hollywood, S.C., 29449.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ St. Pauls, 4981 Chapel Road, Hollywood, S.C., 29449 or Jesse "Mac" McGrady Jr. Scholarship Fund, MUSC Foundation, 18 Bee St., MUSC 450, Charleston, S.C. 29425.
Hope was born on Dec. 27, 1925 in Decatur, daughter of the late Ollie Jefferson Eason and Mary Louise Eason. She received her four-year degree at Auburn University. She was in the very first chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta that Auburn University ever had. She loved golfing, gardening and needlework. Most of all she loved to travel and spend time with her family.
Survivors, including her husband George of 66 years, are: two daughters, Susie McGrady (the late Jesse "Mac" McGrady) of Yonges Island, and Linda Kotrick (Kevin) of Milledgeville; three grandchildren, Jesse Garrett McGrady of Yonges Island, Kevin Michael Kotrick Jr. of Milledgeville, and Kassie Hope Kotrick of Milledgeville; special family friends, Collette Rountree of Yonges Island, June O'Brien of Yonges Island, and Bobby and Carol Woodard of Sunset Beach, N.C.
