Lillian Worthy's Story
Mrs. Lillian Brown Worthy Bishop, 95 of Gordon, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Gordon. Burial will follow in Ramah Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
She was a lifelong resident of Wilkinson County. She was predeceased by her parents, Alex Brown and Lucille Avery Brown; her husbands, Willi T. "Doc" Worthy and John Bishop; son, Charles Worthy; sisters, Dot McDaniel and Agnes Childers. Mrs. Worthy had owned and operated Worthy's Greenhouse. She had worked as a telephone operator in Gordon. She was a seamstress and had run the concessions at the Gordon Pool for a number of years. She was a Sunday School teacher and Sunday School director and longtime member of the Gordon First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Doris (Charles) Dennard of Gainesville; sons, Steve (Bobbie) Worthy of Warner Robins and Don (Dawn) Worthy of Gordon; grandchildren, Cliff Worthy, Tamara Garner, Diane Saint, Michelle Munro, Charlie Dennard, Victoria Worthy, Josh Worthy, and Mitch Johnson, Joy Odom, Charles Haddock, 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
