Lester Glen's Story
Lester Glen Cook, of Milledgeville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 24, 2017. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, at Friendship W. Baptist Church with Rev. David Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Cook grew up in Milledgeville, attended Baldwin High School and was a graduate of Washington County High School in Sandersville. He spent many years working in the trucking and chalk industries before his retirement in 1999. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed watching UGA football and restoring his 1959 John Deere tractor. He also had a passion for genealogy and planned a book about his family history. His hobbies included faith and fellowship at Friendship W. Baptist Church, spending time with his grandchildren, and raising chickens.
Mr. Cook is preceded in death by his father Delmar Cook, mother Lola Cadle Cook, sister Martha Cook Page, and brothers Charles Gene Cook and William "Billy" Cook.
Mr. Cook is survived by his wife of 45 years, Connie Brookins Cook, his daughter Dawn Hendel and son-in-law Greg Hendel of Northborough, MA, and his daughter Christy Worthington and son-in-law Jeff Worthington of St. Augustine, FL, his four grandchildren: Ashley Hendel of Athens, GA, Grant Hendel of Northborough, MA, and Joshua and Emily Worthington of St. Augustine, FL, his sister Nettie Pearl Terry of Milledgeville and his half-sister Nolie Campbell of Linton, and his beloved dog Becca.
