Kenneth Taylor Smock Jr. was born in Neptune, N.J. on Dec. 4, 1937. He grew up near the beach and Jersey shore. He attended Admiral Farragut Academy and spent five years at Syracuse University where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Ken graduated from Syracuse University in 1963 with a bachelor of industrial design. He worked for some time for Gates Rubber in Denver, Colo., and later for Kansas City Modular Home Company in Kansas City, Mo. For about 13 years he owned and operated a Shakey's Pizza in Milledgeville. He finished out his working career in commercial construction building churches, schools, gymnasiums, large metal warehouses, and office buildings. He is survived by his estranged wife: Judy Smock of Savannah; and two sons: Lt. Col. Charles Smock of St. Louis, Mo., and Doug (Niki) Smock of Heath, Texas; and three grandchildren by Doug and Niki Smock.
