Joseph Alfred's Story
Joseph Alfred Ethridge died Nov. 10, 2017. His cremains will be interred in the New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery at a later date.
Mr. Etheridge, the son of the late Ernest Ethridge and Bertha Ethridge, was born in Jones County. He was predeceased by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Agnes (Buddy) Hardie and Mary (Ray) Gay, and four brothers and sisters-in law, Robert (Beth), Riley (Lois), Radford (Hazel) and Roy (Gloria) Ethridge.
He was a graduate of Jones County High School and received his undergraduate degree from Georgia State University, a Master's Degree from Georgia College, and Specialist Degree from Georgia State University. Mr. Ethridge taught in the Bibb County School System and retired from Macon Technical Institute, now known as Central Georgia Technical College.
He is survived by one sister, Beatrice Curless of Browning, IL and several nieces and nephews, including Judy Hardie Brown, his caregiver.
He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Jones County.
According to his wishes, no funeral or memorial service is planned.
Couey Reece Stanley Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
