Jerry Jewett McCommon Sr., 78, of Milledgeville, passed away Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019. Jerry was born in Macon on Oct. 17, 1940, to the late Jewett Albert McCommon and the late Rose Walker McCommon. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Kelly McCommon, and by a brother, Clayton McCommon. Jerry came to Milledgeville in 1969, selling mobile homes. Jerry was also the former owner of "Jerry's Hideaway" and "Jerry's Grill and Bar," as well as selling real estate with Lakeside Realty. He was a member in good standing of "The Club at Temple Bay."
Jerry is survived by his sons, Jerry McCommon Jr. (Lindsay), and Sean McCommon (Kelly); and his grandchildren, Morgan McCommon, Colby McCommon, Max (Abbie) McCommon, Annie McCommon and Jack McCommon ; and a good friend, Julian Hood.
Services for Jerry McCommon Sr. will be conducted Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019, from 2 p.m. until the service hour. Immediately following the service, family and friends will gather at Duke's Dog House for a reception.
The family has asked, that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 10 Glenlake Pkwy, NE, South Tower Suite 400, Atlanta, GA 30328.
