Jerrell's Story

Mr. Joseph Jerrell Strong, 91, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017. Services will be held May 5, 2017 at 2:30 PM at the Georgia Veterans' Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Oliver officiating.
Mr. Strong was born in Ellaville, GA and had owned and operator Hatcher Milling Company in Macon. He was a member of Mulberry St. Methodist Church in Macon, the Moose Club, the Masonic Lodge, and was a Veteran of the United States Navy and Army. Mr. Strong loved his children and grandchildren; he enjoyed golf, fishing, homemade ice cream, and was a loyal fan of both the GA Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Angelyn King Strong, brothers; Carey Strong and Junior Strong; parents James Marion Strong and Jessie Foreman Strong. Mr. Strong is survived by his daughter Nancy (Lynn) Smith of Milledgeville; sons, Joe Geri Strong of Macon and Michael Kelly (Debra) Strong of Charlotte. Grandchildren; Morris Smith, Joey Smith, Megan Smith, Shane Strong, Carlie Cochran, Chad Strong and Jamie Kauserud. Great Grandchildren; Brandon Smith, Walker Smith, Grant Smith, Bree Luther, Hadley Strong, Adalyn Strong, Ryleigh Kauserud, Carson Cochran and Hagen Cochran.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Georgia War Veterans Home, 2249 Vinson Highway, Milledgeville, GA 31061 or to Pruitt Health Hospice, 6060 Lakeside Commons Dr., Macon, GA 31210.
