I.J.'s Story

Funeral services for Iverson "I.J." Waters, 83, will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Williams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John May and the Rev. Eddie Braswell officiating. Interment will follow in Washington County Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.
Mr. Waters was a native of Washington County and had made his home in Milledgeville since 1970. Mr. Waters was predeceased by his parents, Charlie Albert Waters and Maude Caraway Waters, his wife, Mildred Newsome Waters, a daughter Becky Waters; and brother, Mandell Charlie Waters Sr. He served in the National Guard, he was a retired employee of Central State Hospital, had worked at Southside Elementary School, and was a member of The Master's Touch Ministry Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Cara (John) Davis; grandchildren, John (Lacey) Davis Jr., and Roy (Tori) Hester, all of Milledgeville and Heather Waters of Florida; great grandchildren, Braelyn Davis, John Davis III, Trinity Burr, Hunter Burr, Ella Hester, Haley Hester, Jaa Hester all of Milledgeville, Allison Waters and Brantley Waters of Florida; sisters, Mary Lanthrip of Macon, Delia Denton and Reba Brown of Tennille.
