Mrs. Martha Gwendolyn "Gwen" Ward Johnson, 70, passed away Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Monday, Aug. 28, 2017 in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home of Milledgeville with the Rev. Roy Kittle and the Rev. Bill Ayers officiating. Interment will follow in Baldwin Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017, from 2 until 4 p.m.
Mrs. Johnson was a native of Wilkinson County and lived in Milledgeville most of her life. She retired from Central State Hospital and owned and operated Gwen's Tax Service for over 35 years. She was very active volunteering in many community organizations and attended both Oak Grove Methodist Church and Heartland Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her son, Edward Alan Johnson, father, Charles Edward Ward, and brother, Charles Edward Ward Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Johnson; sons, William Bloodworth (Cindy) of Florida, and Michael "Kuntry" Johnson (Lisa) of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Heidi Bloodworth, Adam Bloodwroth, Faith Bloodworth, Daniel Bloodworth, Abigail Johnson, Camden Henderson and Zachary Koehler; mother, Kathryn Barrow Ward Kasee; sisters, Charlene Stuckey (Wendell), Susan Crocker (Joe), Janice Bish (Daniel) and close friend, Patsy Califf.
