Events

Glenn A. Veal passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2019. He was born in Deepstep, Ga. to Oscar Franklin Jr. (O.F.) and Eugenia Breedlove Veal. He lived in Milledgeville during his adult years.
He was a graduate of Sandersville High School and graduated from The University of Georgia School of Pharmacy with a B.S. in pharmacy in 1958.
In Mr. Veal's early career, he worked in independent pharmacy practice having ownership in several independent drugstores. He then had a successful career at Central State Hospital where he retired as regional director of pharmaceutical services. He took pride in continuing to maintain his license to practice pharmacy.
Glenn was a person of strong Christian faith and an active member of Milledgeville First United Methodist Church. He served on numerous administrative and program committees over the years. Most recently he had served on the Board of Trustees. He was an active member of the Turner Farmer Sunday School class and also enjoyed working with the River of Life youth mission where he was the longtime breakfast team coordinator. He was always known for his dependability and diligent work both as a leader and behind the scenes.
He enjoyed working in the yard, various projects around the house and woodworking projects. He enjoyed the simpler things in life - having birdhouses in the yard and tracking the progress of how the trees and shrubs grew.
Glenn is survived by his devoted and loving wife of almost 42 years, Dr. Phyllis M. Parks-Veal. He was her love and the light of her life. In addition, he is survived by children, Kelly Jo Veal of Conyers (Christal Moore) and Kim Veal Cates (Bob) of Fairfax Station, Va. He is also survived by a special granddaughter, Sarah Lynn Cates. His four siblings predeceased him.
Services will be held at noon Thursday, July 18, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mac Enfinger officiating. Burial will follow at Baldwin Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until noon at the church.
