George Brooks Jr., 79, passed away Monday, Aug. 7, 2017. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2017 from the chapel of Moores Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Snow Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Brooks was a native of Glascock County but had lived in Baldwin County most of his life. He was a retired employee of Central State Hospital and was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Hodges Brooks, and a son, Joey Brooks. He was a member of Freedom Church and a veteran serving in the United States Army.
Survivors include a son, Ricky Brooks (Debra), a daughter, Pam Byrd (Mark) all of Baldwin County; brother, Howard Brooks, and sisters, Betty Batson and Faye Quinn all of Milledgeville; eight grandchildren, Cassie Brooks, Matt Brooks (Lauren), Heather Martin (Derreck), Marci Osborne (Mitch), Brooks Byrd (Shelby), Caleb Byrd (Danielle), Rebekah Byrd, Kennedy Brooks; and nine great-grandchildren also survive.
The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 11, from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at Moores Funeral Home.
The family requests in lieu flowers memorial contribution may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
