Ernest Etheridge Bayne, 93, of Milledgeville passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, at the Chapel of Moores Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at Baldwin Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Bayne was born in Atlanta and lived in Dublin before moving to Milledgeville when he was in the seventh grade. He was a graduate of Georgia Military College and he served two tours in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was retired from the business he founded, Bayne's Army Store. He was a member and former deacon of Hardwick Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Etheridge and Lillian Bayne, and his sisters, Elsie Gilman, Doris Stevens and Alice Ussery.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Anne Pittman Bayne; his daughter, Cynthia New (Randy); his sons, Victor Bayne (Dianne) and Milton Bayne; four grandchildren, Diana Riner (Jesse), Corey New (Leslie), Doug Bayne (Tiffany) and Dustin Bayne; six great-grandchildren, Jake Riner, Hunter Bayne, Jared New, Barrett New, Avery Bayne and Gage Riner.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 22 from 10 a.m. until the service hour at Moores Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hardwick Baptist Church P.O. Box 39, Hardwick, Ga. 31034.
