Dovie Dean's Story
Dovie Dean Dixon, 89, passed away Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Thomas, the Rev. Michael Brewer officiating.
Grandson Casey Dixon will also speak. Burial will follow at Snow Hill Cemetery in Wilkinson County.
Mr. Dixon was a native of Twiggs County and made his home in Milledgeville for 54 years before moving to Ivey 10 years ago. He was employed at Central State Hospital, Madison Throwing Company, Dixon Recycling Company (Owner/Operator) and Dixon Disposal Services (Co-Owner/Operator). He was the son of the late Alex Morgan Dixon and Lucious Pearl Arnold Dixon. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Lena Iona McCoy Pierce Dixon; infant daughter in 1966, a grandson, Eric Lane Pierce, both of Milledgeville; a brother and sister-in-law, Etheodore (Shorty) Dixon, and wife, Iris Kersey Dixon; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Phene Pope and George Pope, all of Danville.
Survivors include a dedicated and loving daughter, Linda Dixon Fountain of Ivey; James (Bo) Pierce and wife Joyce; Bobby D. Dixon and wife Roxanne; and Billy E. Dixon and wife Suzanne all of Milledgeville, a daughter, Jean Dixon Sprouse and husband, Gary Sprouse of Danville, a son-in-law, Ricky Fountain of Ivey and a very close friend, Kenneth (Tebo) Tillery of Ivey; grandchildren Roger E. Pierce and wife, Jennifer of Ivey, Otis (Smokey) Dixon of Ivey, Duane Fountain and friend (Kylie) of Milledgeville, Dusty Fountain and wife Brandi Fountain of Gordon, Casey Dixon and wife Ivey of Milledgeville, Brandi Dixon Wooten and husband Bubba Wooten of Eatonton, B.J. Dixon of Eatonton, Rita and Johnny of Danville, Michele Dixon Spell and husband D.J. of Butler, and Marsha Dixon and husband Greg Osborne of Linton; 22 great grandchildren, several special nieces and sisters-in-laws.
The family will be at 101 Old Mill Road, Gordon and receive friends Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Moores Funeral Home.
