David Paul's Story
David Paul Goodrich entered into rest on Saturday, May 6th, 2017 at Doctors Hospital after a short illness.
David was born on Thanksgiving Day November 26th, 1970 in Athens, GA and spent his early years in Augusta before a move to Newport News, VA in 1986. He graduated from Menchville High School in Newport News, VA in 1989. David had a number of interests and worked in respiratory therapy prior to serving Richmond County as a police officer. David applied in 1999 and was accepted in the Medical College of Georgia, School of Nursing. He received his BSN in 2001. He had just recently obtained a Masters degree from Capella University in Health Administration and was employed at Savannah River Nursing, LLC at the time of his death.
David is survived by his son, Seth Allan Goodrich; parents, Martha and Allan Goodrich, MD; sister and brother-in-law, Amanda and Eric Porterfield of Nashville, TN. He has many loving family members and friends; aunts, Georgia Ann Overman and Ellen S. Goodrich of Milledgeville, Dianne B. Goodrich of Oxford, CT and Nancy K. Hislope of Union, OH.; uncle, Isaac Goodrich, MD of Oxford, CT and many cousins whom he adored. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William O. (Bill) and Florea H. Wright; his paternal grandparents, Ellis and Freida B. Goodrich; and uncles, Jack Wright and Sammuel M. Goodrich, MD.
David enjoyed Georgia Bulldawg football, whether it was at the stadium in Athens or camped out in front of the TV. He was also a fan of the Boston Red Sox but David's favorite sports were hunting, fishing and white water rafting with his son, Seth. David's loving spirit touched the lives of all who knew him and he never met a stranger. He was especially fond of his co-workers at Savannah River Nursing and his many, many friends.
A special thank you to the physicians and nurses in ICU at Doctors Hospital for the excellent care that David received over the past 3 weeks.
