Mrs. Claire Short Herrin, 91, passed away Friday, Nov. 17, 2017. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017 in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home of Milledgeville with Dr. Jay Hodges and the Rev. Ron Smith officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until the service hour.
Mrs. Herrin was a native of Thomaston. She was the daughter of the late Charles Bartlett and Rozelle Corley Short and was preceded in death by her husband, LeeRoy Herring. She graduated from Mercer University with her bachelor's degree and went on to get her master's and specialist degrees with Georgia College and State University. She was a teacher with Baldwin County schools and a member of First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda (Alredo) Hincapie of Encinitas, Calif.; sons, Rhett (Mary) Harrison, Russell (George) Harding, both of Milledgeville and Billy (Edith) Harrison of Forsyth; and seven grandchildren.
