Christine Topping's Story
A celebration of the life of Mrs. Christine Topping Bentley, age 88, will be held Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 11:30 in the First Christian Church of Toomsboro with Rev. Bill Moody, Rev. Elizabeth Bentley, Rev. Roy Crowe officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 until the funeral hour.
Mrs. Bentley passed away May 8, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents Rev. Raleigh L. and Mrs. Hurley Taylor Topping; and all of her siblings, Doris Edmondson, R.L. Topping, Jr., Joe Topping, Dorothy Godard, Patricia Taylor, Tom Topping; and her son-in-law, Bill Pugsley.
She was a native of Roanoke Rapids, N.C. , but moved to Georgia and made her home in McIntyre over 64 years ago. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an excellent cook, loved to sew and was an avid reader. She loved most of all spending time with her children, grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She was a faithful and loyal member of the First Christian Church of Toomsboro. Mrs. Bentley was a retired Registered Nurse from Central State Hospital.
Survivors include her loving husband, Charles Lindberg Bentley of McIntyre; daughter, Susan Bentley Pugsley of Highlands, N.C.; sons, Charles L. Bentley, Jr. (Linda) of Laurens, S.C., Timothy Bentley of McIntyre and Kevin Bentley (Carla) of McIntyre; grandchildren, Trey Bentley (Elizabeth), Michael Bentley (Jessica), Mitch Bentley (Courtney), Ben Bentley and Nick Bentley; great grandchildren, Abigail Christine Bentley, Luke Bentley, and Kylie Bentley.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the First Christian Church of Toomsboro's Children's Fund (101 Pineview Steet, Toomsboro, GA 31090).
