Ms. Mary Charleene Deason Justice, 78, passed away Feb. 1, 2018. A memorial service will be held at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Home in Charlotte on Sunday.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018 at 2 p.m. in Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Milledgeville. Burial will follow in Baldwin Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1 until 2 p.m.
Ms. Justice was a native of Milledgeville and had spent her most recent time in Charlotte. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Mike Deason and Gatsie Smith Deason and was preceded in death by her brothers, Charlie and Mike Deason. Ms. Justice had a nursing career that spanned 44 years including being an OBGYN nurse in Portsmouth, Va., then a psychiatric nurse at the Veterans Hospital in Salisbury after completing her additional certification in psychiatry. She cared deeply for veterans and was honored for her contributions to the PTSD program in Salisbury. Her passion was fueled by her love for her brother, Mike, who was a Vietnam veteran. She was a devoted Christian who read her Bible every night and prayed for the people in her life daily.
She is survived by her daughters, Jan Mitchell (Dave), Mary Anne Rayfield (Jeff), Michelle Justice Stoycon (Eric) and Crystal Finley (Greg); grandchildren, Lauren Mitchell (Andy Thorsell), Brittany Mitchell, Jake Rayfield, Maddie Rayfield, Thomas Finley; and sister, Freddie Bell Hawkins (Harvey); nieces and nephews, Nicole, Tara, Gay, Robbie, Scott, Jeffrey, Cathy, Christie, and Kenny; special friends, Sharon, Cindy, Beth, Dot, Olga, Betty, JoAnn, Louise, Bob Clark and Manning Farley.
