Arnie's Story

Arnie Noel Simpson age 93 passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 21, at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery.
Mr. Simpson was a native and resident of Hancock County. He received his Agriculture Degree from the University of Georgia in 1943. He worked for W.F. Hall Lumber Company and Cordell Farm Supply. He began his teaching career at Baldwin County High School where he taught Science and retiring with 26 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents A.C. and Kate Holder Simpson and his son Charles Noel (Butch) Simpson. Mr. Simpson served in the United States Army during World War II and was a Tank Commander in the 781st Tank Brigade under the direct leadership of General Patton during the European Theater. After returning home, he served in the Georgia National Guard retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was a member and deacon of Black Springs Baptist Church and served as church treasurer for over 30 years.
Survivors include his wife Mildred Ennis Simpson of Milledgeville, two daughters Ann S. Howell (Jimmy) of Buena Vista and Kay Miller of Milledgeville, 5 grandchildren Jay Howell (Carol), Charlie Simpson (Shanna), Laurie Martin (Clint), Steven Simpson (Laurie) and Jason Miller, great grandchildren, A.J. Howell, Owen Howell, Brock Martin, Nathan Simpson, Lauryn Simpson, Ethan Simpson, Hunter Simpson, Gregory Simpson and Christian Simpson, a daughter-in-law Jane Simpson and a nephew Sam Chandler.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Moores Funeral Home.
