Anthony Hubert "Andy" (Taterbug) Mathis, 77, passed away Monday, Sept. 2, 2019. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Browher and the Rev. Scott Matthews officiating. Burial will at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Mathis was a life-long resident of Washington County. He worked as a maintenance foreman with Engelhard Corporation and retired with over 35 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents Hubert Dorsey and Mary Kennedy Mathis and a brother-in-law Brinson B. Oliver. He was a member of the Tennille Baptist Church and attended the Ohoopee Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Mathis of Tennille; his daughter, Regina Banger (Jason) of Tennille; his brother, Colin D. Mathis (Patricia) of McIntyre; his sister, Mary Grace Oliver of Rainsville, Ala.;, sister-in-law, Joyce Martin of McIntyre; two grandchildren, Jordon Banger and Joel Banger, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 3 until 4 p.m. at Moores Funeral Home.
