Funeral services for Mr. Albert L. Tanner, 83, will be conducted Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017, at 2 p.m. in Williams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Glover and the Rev. Clint Raburn officiating.
Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home & Crematory in Milledgeville Tuesday from 5 until 7 p.m.
Mr. Tanner was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille Crawford Tanner and Clyde Buron Tanner Sr.; brothers, Clyde B. Tanner Jr., Tommy Tanner and his beloved daughter, Allison Beth Tanner.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bessie Leverette Tanner; brothers, Tyree (Carol) Tanner, Bunion (Mildred) Tanner and Vunion (Mary Nell) Tanner, all of Milledgeville; special sisters-in-law and caregivers, Margaret (Robert) Ivey, Gladys (Carlton) Akins, Evelyn (Punch) Kelley and Ann Deal; Peabody Girls Class of '55, a host of loving nieces and nephews, and special great nieces and nephews.
Albert grew up walking to Olive Hill Baptist Church with his grandmother, Icie Crawford, and was a member and deacon of Harmony Baptist Church and later a member of First Baptist Church of Sandersville.
Albert made a career of work and helping people. He enjoyed his circle of friends and family. He was active in the Washington County Civitan Club and loved being a positive example by teaching and coaching young people in sports like football and baseball. After his handicap, he enjoyed fishing, growing beautiful flowers, and telling stories to family and friends.
